Chicago Hot House is sharing on Saturday for free on its official website the Concert for Cuba that brought together a hundred artists from the island, Canada, the United States, Europe and Africa in two sessions.
The project was conceived as a one-night virtual show, but so many enthusiasts joined it that the show had to be done in two parts, on July 18 and 19, under the sponsorship of Hot House of Chicago and the support of the Cuban Music Institute and the Ministry of Culture.
Intellectuals, political figures, social activists and musicians took advantage of the event to raise their voices against the blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba and in support of the campaign for the Nobel Peace Prize for the Cuban medical contingent Henry Reeve, for its contributions to fight Covid-19 in 34 countries.
According to the Executive Director of Hot House, Marguerite Horberg, the recital went from being a strictly musical showcase to a space for denouncing US aggressions and supporting the so-called White Coat contingent.
Horberg spoke of the obstacles that have prevented greater collaboration between these two nations' artists for many years due to Washington's restrictive policies, and she strongly rejected the blockade imposed for more than 60 years.

At the same time, Horberg invites people to support Cuba's solidarity work and asks for the sharing of the concerts.
The online event poster included names such as Dionne Warwick, Michael Mc Donald, Jon Cleary, Barbara Dane, Susana Baca, Jane Bunnett, the Chicago Philharmonic; as well as Orquesta Aragón, Alexander Abreu and Habana D' Primera, the Septeto Santiaguero, among others.
