MiCompañía premieres Susana Pous’ Mondo

It is not a word commonly used in Cuba: according to DRAE (Dictionary of the Royal Spanish Language), the adjective mondo means “clean and free of added and superfluous things.” Mondo is also the name of the dance performance that MiCompañía premieres this weekend at the Havana’s Martí Theater.

Her director, Susana Pous proposes a quest for essence.

"It is about elucidating what is truly important, what transcends the clothes we put on. We live in a time of increasing dehumanization, and it is appropriate to reflect on the most authentic values of the human being. That is what the performance is about, although, of course, I do not intend to give definitive answers to the question."

Susana Pous aims of perfection in her creations, like pieces of goldsmithing. She is always attentive to details, the high standards in every creation.

"I always aim to recreate on stage a magical space, another area that can be understood as a refuge. Even when I talk about reality, as is the case. Art always has to offer other handles."

Mondo, which as usual in Pous's performances offers the music by M Alfonso and lighting design by Guido Gali, will take the stage this Friday, at 7:00 p.m. There will also be performances on Saturday, at 7, and Sunday at 5 in the afternoon.

Tickets are on sale at the theater box office.
